Our History
History Timeline
Shelmex is a dynamic group in constant expansion.
1996
We started with a small operation manufacturing handmade piñatas in Mexico for markets in the United States.
1998
Our piñatas were being sold and shipped throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.
2005
We received our first National Export Award from the Mexican Council of Foreign Trade (COMCE).
2006
We established our first subassembly operation in a 15,000 SQF facility for a contract manufacturing client in the paper industry.
2008
Our subassembly facility expands to 75,000 SQF.
2011
We received our second National Export Award from the Mexican Council of Foreign Trade (COMCE).
2013
We built additional plants and expanded our total manufacturing floor space to 110,000 SQF.
2015
We launched our wire harness operation in a 75,000 SQF manufacturing facility entirely operated by us for an electrical wire harness client. We acquired land reserves for future operations in Queretaro (1.398M SQF) & Monterrey (107,600 SQF).
2016
We achieved ISO-9001 certification for our electrical wire harness operation.
2019
We established a specialty shopping bag and rigid box manufacturing operation. Launched and incubator specialized in small subassembly operations with strong growth potential. The incubator supports moving from product prototypes into production-ready products.
2020
We completed the startup of an excelsior wood fiber product facility. We launched the disposable medical equipment business unit with the startup of a disposable face mask production facility.
2021
We acquired 322,800 SQF of land reserves in the state of Jalisco.
2022
We started with the manufacture of electronic equipment, as well as the integration of its entire supply chain, including plastic injection.
